Fresh off the success of OWN’s scripted series comes a new television movie based on the life of Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame singer Darlene Love. My Name Is Love: The Darlene Love Story, adapting it into the network’s first original TV movie. The movie will be executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Morgan Neville. Love also will executive produce.
Many of you will remember Darlene from this years Oscar nominated documentary film Twenty Feet From Stardom directed by Morgan Neville, which puts a spotlight on backup singers for some of music’s biggest acts. OWN has licensed the first broadcast window to air Twenty Feet From Stardom beginning in 2015.
“The fantastic life journey of music great Darlene Love is the perfect choice for our first original scripted movie,” said Sheri Salata, president, OWN. “There are a handful of stories brought to the screen of daring American women who walked through fire and back to make their dreams come true and Darlene is one of the heroes on that list”.
